NOTE ON THE UPKEEP OF SOMALI WIKIPEDIA

hello, this is a somali-speaking individual who has noticed that the somali wikipedia IS NOT checked enough or corrected. i often had a suspicion of this and thought that the bots in place to clean up acts of random vandalism were to clean it up, for vandalism has no language but destruction; a language anyone can clearly identify, if not understand-and this includes bots. why they aren't being policed and watched, i dont know, and as i think you are an admin due to your large number of edits within somali wikipedia...you should be watching these kind of things. as a test for this, i posted a vandalistic note on the template for the main page-otherwise known as "Bogga Hore"; entitled:

warya?? hahahaha!! lalalal!!a ohohohhahahhha slfisjf;liasjf;dlsdj

under the "Mashruucyo qaraabo la'ah Wikipedia" heading. it has still not been taken off, and i won't. it will stay there untill some people realize their responsibilities in somali wikipedia. i do not have an account and don't plan to. again, i press upon you the resposibilities of you and everyone else who is a user on somali wikipedia to step up the vigilance for vandalism. everyone including the bots. --18 Jan 2008, genieyclo

Hello and Welcome to the Somali language Wikipedia. As a Somalia native speaker I will welcome you to make contribution by editing or correcting as it appropriate. One thing about the bots: They just do a predictable automated-work and that is mostly creating an interwiki-links and so on. although some bots can spot vandalism they will need more pattern (data collection) to figure-out, what edit can be classified as "unwanted". I am just doing a favor for this community, but please do not vandalize and ask me then to clean in order to test how fast one will clean. Thank you for raising this old and important question. I am in the middle of translating the interface of this name space in betawiki. I hope one day it will be ready to commit and deploy. But, in the meantime with my limited resources of time I have a plan that I am trying to “execute” by mid July. The plan goes like this:

• To make short introduction about the wikipedia
• Make Somali language tagged Wikipedia-logo
• To post all major forums that Somali speakers gather
